SunSystems Purchase Management records purchase invoices received, and manages them through to approval. The Purchasing module facilitates the creation, maintenance and analysis of purchasing activities within your organization, such as the management of suppliers, and the procurement of goods and services. Purchase transactions pass through a series of stages: | Stage | Description | | Order Entry | The lines of the order are created | | Order Confirmation | The order is confirmed as being correct and ready to be further processed | | Goods Receipt Entry/Matching | The goods are received and matched against the order line | | Goods Receipt Inspection | The goods are received and inspected. Specific inspection instructions can be defined using Inspection Codes Setup (INC) | | Invoice Entry | An invoice is received from the supplier and entered into the system | | Invoice Matching | An invoice is received from the supplier and is matched against a purchase order line | | Invoice Confirmation | The invoice is confirmed as being correct |
You can set up your Purchasing module to use some or all of these stages for different types of transactions if appropriate, and you can specify in which order they are to be carried out. The Goods Receipt function enables you to match items ordered against those received. You can generate inquiries and reports for effective purchase management, for example, analyzing late purchase orders, outstanding purchase orders for a particular item and purchase order lines awaiting goods receipt processing. SunSystems Introduction

Inventory Control manages inventory levels and costs. You can maintain stock balances for an item in a number of locations. Locations can be physical, for example a warehouse or they can be used to denote classifications of stock. An inventory is a list of all the goods and materials held by your organization for future sale or use, in other words, a list of all those items held in stock.
Using the Inventory functions you can control these goods and materials, trace their whereabouts and ensure you have the correct amount of each item available. You can specify that stock is held in bins within each location. All stock movements are entered using a common entry screen. Stock can be held at standard, latest, FIFO and average cost. Stock movement costs can also be converted automatically to another currency.

According to the client-server paradigm SunSystems comprises of three main components or layers.
The Client Layer
This layer can be installed as a complete entity onto one machine, known as a Client. It enables the user to interact with SunSystems 5 via a Graphical User Interface (GUI). All user input and validation is performed within the Client layer. All communication with the server i.e. downloading updated forms, is handled by the Comms Routines. The Application Layer
This layer can be installed either with the Client and Database layer in a stand-alone deployment, with the Database layer, or on dedicated Application Server machine(s). The Database Layer
This layer is dedicated to database management, which can be managed by a proprietary Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) i.e. Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle. It can be installed on the same machine as the other layers, or on a dedicated Database Server machine. These components can be installed either as a complete entity onto a single machine, or distributed amongst several client and server machines.  Write Comment (1 Comments)

Corporate Allocations

Corporate Allocations uses allocation setups to generate a series of journal transactions.
An allocation setup can contain the following components: - an allocation source which identifies the costs or charges to be apportioned.
- an allocation target which identifies the target account to which the costs or charges are to allocated.
- an allocation ratio which identifies the proportion of the source that is to be allocated to the target, if required.

Tip: An allocation generates balancing journal transactions to keep the ledger in balance. The balancing transaction is posted to an offset account which is identified on either the allocation source, or allocation target, depending on the type of allocation being run.
These three allocation components are identified for each of the following example allocation requirements.

Sales Order Management

The Sales module facilitates the creation, maintenance and analysis of sales activities within your organization, such as the management of customers, and the sales of goods and services. The module is defined and administered using Sales Business Setup. Sales transactions pass through a series of stages which are set up in the Sales Types in your system. In the Item Master you can link customers with the items they buy and record associated information such as unit of purchase, lead time for individual items, contact details and codes for traceability. You can generate inquiries and reports for effective sales management, for example, analyzing sales invoices, returned goods, and sales orders by item or transaction. Sun531 SQL Patch Set 13
On 30 of September 2008 Infor issued SunSystems 5 Version V531 SQL PatchSet PS015.
Ask your channel partner for this patch set or download it from Infor Support Site.
This Readme file lists, in order of function name, faults fixed in SunSystems 5, version V531 RELEASE, patch set PS015. For identification purposes, issue references are given to the left of each Summary.
Note: Rarely a patch set may contain a change to a data dictionary item that is referenced on a form. In this situation the form could require recompiling. It is not possible to predict which customer forms may have referenced such items. However, should you receive a form-related error subsequent to installing a patch set, then you should recompile the form to resolve it.
Additional Notes: If you have tried to amend the port you are using prior to applying this patch set, you will need to remove any xml tag for the group name tomcat.from the user_props.xml file located in the mian SunSytems folder as follows: SunSystems>ssc>Lib>properties. Version 7.0.2735.26600 of the deployment tool should be used with this patch set. |
