Page 5 of 5 Movement Type Setup All the fields on the Movement Type Setup apply to an order created by an Inventory Count. The following must be considered- A movement type used within Inventory Count cannot be of the type Transfer. That is, the Receipt or Issue field on the Movement Type Setup is set to Both.
- A movement order of the type Receipt is used to write-on inventory.
- A separate order of the type Issue is used to write-off inventory.
- It is recommended that allocations are performed at the order entry stage.

Movement Type Stages The stages of order entry and order confirmation are the only stages that can be associated with a movement type used for Inventory Counts. This is regardless of whether the type is a Receipt or Issue type. Both stages must be present. Other stages, such as GRN, picking etc., are not allowed and will not be processed. To hold a movement order, the field Hold After Completion can be set at either the entry or confirmation stage, depending on the reason for the order being held. Movement Type Value Labels Movement order value labels are processed as for a regular movement order. Allocations For a write-off movement order, allocations are performed as for a regular movement order. Inventory data is passed from the Inventory Count to the movement order. This data consists of the item count, quantity to be written-off, batch reference, expiry date, etc. This data is used to ensure that the correct piece of inventory is allocated. If the item is defined as being allocated manually, the system still automatically allocates it. If an order is set to be held, the action Manual Allocations can be used to amend the allocation. Care must be taken to ensure that an incorrect receipt is not allocated and so the incorrect inventory issued. If inventory is allocated and an attempt is made to write it off as part of an Inventory Count, the movement order may experience difficulties with allocation. In this case, a movement order is held regardless of the settings of the Held After Completion field on the movement order stage. You must then manually deallocate other orders and process the movement orders as required. Ledger Postings The Exit action in Inventory Count Entry, and the Post action in Inventory Count Approve and Post, both trigger ledger postings. Ledger postings are created using the movement orders created for the Inventory Count. The ledger interface definitions on the movement type setups are used, and ledger postings are created as for regular movement orders.
