You can assign storage characteristics, previously set up using Characteristics Setup (CS), to the item. Storage characteristics can be used to control where an item is held, for example, in a fridge, duty free zone or secure unit. From the Action menu within Item Master select Item Storage Characteristics. The form contains the following fields: Click here to see a screenshot
Item Code and Description These fields are populated automatically from the item record currently open in Item Master. Characteristic Code The required Characteristic Code. Short Heading This field is populated automatically from the Characteristic Code input. Characteristic Datatype and Short Heading The type of data used by the characteristic. For example, alphanumeric. These fields are automatically populated once the Characteristic Code has been completed. Decimals Allowed The number of decimal places allowed if the value is numeric. Value From The lowest value allowed for this characteristic. Value To The highest value allowed for this characteristic. Logical Value Used if the type of data selected is Logical (requires only Yes or No). For example, whether or not batteries are supplied. Defining Discrete Values for Item Storage Characteristics If the datatype of the storage characteristic you have assigned to an item is a discrete value, you must specify the values using Item Master Storage Characteristic/Discrete Values. From the Action menu within Item Master Assign Storage Characteristics select Discrete Values. The form contains the following fields: Item Code, Description, Item Characteristic Code and Item Characteristic Description These fields are populated automatically from the item record currently open in Item Master. Discrete Value Alphanumeric The allowable value to be applied to this storage characteristic for the item.
