Editing Formula Details
If you want to edit your formula details:
1. From the View menu select Properties to display the Edit Formula details dialog:
Formula Code
The name of your formula is displayed. This cannot be changed. If you want to rename your formula, see Saving Formulae.
Description
Enter a description that helps identify the formula. For example, surcharge, discount or tax.
Lookup Code
Enter a formula lookup code. For example, you might use TAX for a tax formula.
Number of Decimal Places for Result
Use System Default
If selected, indicates that the system default for number of decimal places should be used.
Default to Currency
If selected, indicates that the number of decimal places specified on the currency definition table should be used.
Specify
If you select this option, you can enter the number of decimal places (0-5) to be used for a formula code. For example, if the formula code involves a mileage calculation, you would use zero decimal places.
2. Click OK and the Formula Details are amended.
Editing Numeric Operands
Within your formula, double-click on a numeric operand shown in the Formula Edit Area, or right-click and choose Edit. The Numeric Value dialog is displayed containing the number selected.
Enter a new numeric value.
Click OK and the formula is redisplayed using the new number.
Changing Operators
1. Within your formula, select an operand.
2. Right-click, or alternatively from the Operand menu, select a new operator. The available options are listed below:
  • Arithmetic Operators
  • Add +
  • Subtract -
  • Multiply *
  • Divide /
    Logical Operator
  • OR |
The formula is redisplayed using the new operator.
Using Logical Operator OR |
The logical operator OR has been used in the following example formula:
((LU 13 | LU 16) + LU 12)
This means that if LU 13 is non-zero, it is added to LU12, otherwise LU16 is added to LU12.
Selecting and Deselecting Percentages
1. Select a numeric operand in the Formula Edit Area.
2. Right-click, or alternatively from the Operand menu.
3. Select or deselect the percentage operator %.
4. The formula is redisplayed with the percentage operator either included with or removed from the operand.
