Page 1 of 4 Allocation Setup ( CALS) is used to define the rules for an allocation which are identified by an allocation setup code. It pulls together the allocation sources, allocation targets and, where necessary, the allocation ratios for the allocation. In doing so it determines the source transactions for the allocation, identifies any calculation rules required, and identifies the target account and offset account for the allocation. An allocation setup can contain several allocation sequences. Each sequence results in allocation transactions being generated for the target and offset accounts, for the selected periods. If the allocation is across business units, additional balancing transactions may also be generated. When the allocation is run, the allocation steps are run in the order defined by the allocation sequence number.
Allocation Setup Code A code to identify the allocation. This code is used for each allocation sequence and is selected in Corporate Allocation Run (AR) when you want to perform the allocation. Allocation Sequence Number The sequence number for this step in the allocation. The sequence number determines the order in which the steps are processed for the allocation, in the allocation run. You must enter a number; even if only one step is required. This sequence number is important when the result of one step forms the basis for a subsequent step. Steps within an allocation definition must have ascending numbers. Name A descriptive name for this allocation step. This becomes the transaction description for any generated transactions, unless they are generated at transaction level.
