Page 3 of 3 Ledger Sequences Setup (LSS) You use Ledger Sequences Setup ( LSS) to define sequence number codes. A sequence number code can be assigned to a type of journal transaction and then, when a journal transaction of this type is posted, a transaction sequence number is assigned to the transaction. This enables you to produce sequenced listings of transactions and groups of transactions. The sequence number that is assigned to a transaction is maintained in the analysis dimension identified as the Transactions Dimension in Ledger Setup ( LS). Click here to see the screenshot. Sequence Number Code An alphabetic code to identify the series of sequence numbers to be generated. You might name this to identify the type of transactions the sequence numbers will be applied to, such as sales invoices, cash receipts etc. Ledger Code The code identifying the ledger to which you want this sequence number applied. Name A description of this series of sequence numbers. Update Sequence The method by which the sequence number is to be updated. The following options are available: Manual - select this if you want to enter a sequence number manually into the chosen analysis dimension on each new transaction. You cannot use this option and assign the sequence code to system generated journals. Date Control - select this if registration date control is required without a sequence number. In this case, the sequence number code, identified previously, is written to the transaction sequence dimension identified in Ledger Setup but a sequence number is not applied. Automatic - select this if you want the sequence number to be updated and assigned automatically to each new transaction. This option must be selected for daybook sequence numbers. Entry - select this if you want the sequence number to be updated automatically and want to see the number assigned to the journal. The sequence number is displayed on the bottom line of the Ledger Entry form when the journal is posted. Next Sequence Number If this sequence number is set to Automatic or Entry, this is the next sequence number to be used. Registration Date This is the date that is used as the entry date for this sequence number code. This date appears on all transactions created in: Ledger Entry (LE) , with journal types using this sequence number code Ledger Import (LI), with journal types using this sequence number code Transaction Allocation.
