Other Model
For the Other model Business Unit Setup was defined with:
  • Value 1as USD,
  • Value 2 Transaction currency (in the above example we have used EUR) and
  • Value 3 GBP is the Reporting currency.
  • Value 1 Base currency has been defined as the pivot currency.
As Value’s 1 and 3 are fixed single-code values (i.e. they are defined within the Business Unit Setup form) they are displayed greyed out here to prevent operators entering a different currency code.  Also as Value 1 Base is the pivot, the rate field has been greyed out.
The posting rule defined for Value 3 Reporting currency is 4-Always Calculated.  As you can see from the Journal line above, the Reporting currency GBP has the amount field greyed out to prevent entry of a value.
The calculations for the Other model has been carried out as follows:
100,000 EUR converted to the Base currency USD using the USD to EUR rate of 1.144 giving a calculated amount of 114,400 USD.
114,400 USD has been converted to the Reporting currency GBP using the USD to GBP rate of 1.650079333 giving 69,330 GBP
