Setting Up Analysis Codes
Analysis Codes Setup (NC) is used to define or maintain the analysis codes for an analysis dimension. It is these codes that are entered against static or transaction entities and then used to analyze these entities. For example, you may have defined an analysis dimension for Sales Area and want to define analysis codes to identify your Northern and Southern sales areas.
There is no limit to the number of analysis codes you can define for a dimension.
There are two situations where you do not need to define the analysis codes for a dimension:
  • The Validate option on Analysis Dimensions Setup (ND) determines whether or not the analysis codes you enter are validated. If you choose not to validate the codes on input, you do not need to set up any analysis codes for the dimension.
  • The analysis codes for an analysis dimension can be copied from another SunSystems analysis table and the dimension can be linked to that table. If this is the case, you are not able to define analysis codes for the analysis dimension. Instead, you must define any new codes in the linked analysis table.
Now let’s create the actual Analysis Codes within the Analysis Dimension Country
  • From the Navigation Pane click on Setting up Analysis
  • From the Forms pane select Analysis Codes Setup
  • Alternatively you can type ACS1 or NC in the shortcut field
  • Enter the fields as below for the Analysis Code Spain

Security can be applied to individual codes by checking the Prohibit Posting check box. This prevents the codes being entered. For example the code may be obsolete.
A data access group can also be applied for security reasons to allow or disallow access to transactions, which contain a given Analysis Code.
Analysis Codes can be used to help in setting budgets. There are a number of fields that can be checked or selected to control this process.
If you need to prevent new transactions being entered against individual codes check the Budget Stop check box.
