Page 6 of 7 Asset Posting Presets are used to assign up to 10 default transaction analysis codes to the transactions being posted to an asset (i.e. Depreciation). You can create a number of alternative analysis code default combinations for a single asset, using an asset subcode to identify each. For example, to assign different analysis code combinations depending on whether you are posting an addition or revaluation transaction for the asset. Ledger Entry When you enter a transaction in Ledger Entry and reference a valid asset code/subcode combination, the transaction analysis codes identified for the subcode appear as default analysis codes for the transaction. Depreciation Calculation The posting presets are also used to assign analysis codes to the transactions generated by Depreciation Calculation (DPC) and Asset Disposal (ASD) and to apportion the total value generated by these functions, if required. Apportioning the Depreciation A factor can be entered for a posting preset subcode. This is used to apportion the depreciation value calculated by Depreciation Calculation, or Asset Disposal. It enables the total depreciation for the asset to be apportioned across several posting preset analysis code combinations. The factor determines the amount of the total depreciation calculated, that is apportioned to each analysis-preset subcode for the asset. For example, you can apportion the depreciation for buildings to each department based on the floor area used by each department. A posting preset subcode would be defined for each department. It would identify the appropriate department's analysis code in the relevant analysis dimension. It would also contain the factor to be used to apportion the total depreciation for the department, that is the floor space ratio. Creating Asset Posting Presets
An asset posting preset is defined using Asset Posting Presets, which can only be accessed from Fixed Asset Setup (FAS). 1. Access Fixed Asset Setup (FAS) from the Navigation menu, or click Asset Posting Presets, to access Asset Posting Presets Setup. 2. From the Action menu select Posting Presets, or click the Asset Posting Presets button, to display the Asset Posting Presets dialog. You can then add, amend or delete asset posting presets for the asset, as required. Click here to see a screenshot |
