Page 7 of 9 Working with FiltersFilter Designer – FLD is part of the suite of user tools available with SunSystems. These user tools provide you with the ability to customize the system to reflect your data flows and terminology, and thereby seamlessly integrate SunSystems into your business. To access Filter Designer (FLD) from Navigation Manager select Setting up SunSystems, Tools, FLD - Filter Designer. As the name suggests, Filter Designer allows for the creation and maintenance of SunSystems filters. Using the simplicity of point-and-click and drag-and-drop methods, it combines the power of the SunSystems data dictionary with an uncomplicated WYSIWYG layout and design tool. Filter Designer enables you to create and edit filters by: Specifying selection and sort criteria. Generating forms to capture selection criteria at runtime. Generating new, or specifying existing, forms to display the results extracted by your filter. The Filter Designer window is split into three main areas: 1. The Data Item Hierarchy. Used to restrict data items displayed to a manageable subset 2. The Data Item List. Once you have created a new, or opened an existing, filter the relevant data items for that function are displayed. 3. The Filter Edit Area. Used to create and amend your filters. Also displayed are menus, a toolbar, and a status bar at the bottom of the screen that displays the current Operator Id, current Business Unit and keyboard settings such as CAPS and NUM lock. Once a filter is open, the Data Item Hierarchy, Data Item List and Filter Edit Area are populated with information about the current filter. Once filters have been created and saved using SunSystems Filter Designer, they can be: Selected and invoked from within a Control Desk. Used as a function parameter in a Navigation Manager shortcut |
