Overview
Purchase Order Presets (POPS) are used to predefine some or all of the entries in a Purchase Type for purchase orders. They are intended to speed up the entry of a purchase transaction, particularly where the data entered is frequently repeated. It also allows you to automate data entry, and so improve accuracy. Once they have been defined, they can be assigned to a Purchase Type using Purchase Type Setup (PTS).
To define presets for purchase orders use Purchase Order Presets Setup (POPS) which contains the following:
  • General
  • Details
  • Analysis

See What are Purchase Order Presets? for more information about presets. From the Action menu within Purchase Types Setup, select Purchase Order Assign Preset. The form contains the following fields:

Purchase Transaction Type and Short Heading
These fields are automatically populated from the current Purchase Type Setup.
Preset Code
The preset to be applied.
Preset Line Number
The number of the Preset line to be applied.
Item Code
The item to which the Preset is to be applied.

Units of Measure are units that are applied to items in order to quantify them. Units of Measure Labels describe these units. For example, bottles, cans, crates or pallets.
Once the units of measure have been defined they are applied to specific items in the Item Master. For example, an item may be called lemonade and its unit of measure may be bottle.
Other examples of units of measure are:
  • Specific units - each, box, crate, pallet.
  • Length - centimetre, metre, foot, inch.
  • Area - square metre, square foot.
  • Weight - grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds.
  • Time - hour, day, week, month.
