As with installing the SQL Server or Oracle software, you should spend some time learning the purpose of a SQL database before you create the database itself. You should take a two-step approach for any new databases you create. First, understand the purpose of the database, and then create the database with the appropriate parameters. Consider what the database will be used for and how much data it will contain. You should understand the underlying hardware that you'll use—the number and type of CPUs, the amount of memory, the number of disks, the controllers for the disks, and so on. Because the database is stored on the disks, many tuning problems can be avoided with proper capacity and I/O subsystem planning. Planning your database and the supporting hardware requires insights into the scale or size of the workload and the type of work the system will perform. Some of the considerations that will affect your database design and hardware configuration include the following: |

There is an option in Sun to generate reports based on so-called balance table instead of the general ledger one. The ledger balance table contains summaries of the transactions from the ledger file. It is used to improve the speed with which financial reports and trial balances are produced. |

Despite the most compelling design, and innovative programming, there are many reasons that a Sunystems can fail. One of the keys to minimizing SunSystems failure is redundancy. The power and data redundancy discussed here are a good start to ensure that your Sun is always available, but other types of redundancy also should be considered. |

When SunSystems is installed at a clients’ site it must be serialized. A serialization lasts for a specified period of time, for example, 1 year. You will receive a warning message prior to the anniversary date when the serialization is due to expire. Systems Union will supply new serialization details. To Serialize, or re-serialize SunSystems Enter the serialization details exactly as they appear on the form provided by Systems Union. Check all of the fields in the Module and Option grids to ensure the flags are set correctly. If serialization is successful, you will get a message instructing you to log out and then log back in. If serialization was unsuccessful, you will get a massage instructing you that serialization has failed. Write Comment (0 Comments)

In this session we look at how Business Units are created and administered, using the following functions: - Business Unit Create
- Business Unit Setup
- Business Unit Copy
- Business Unit Delete
| Business Unit CreateBusiness Unit Create (BUC) is used to create the database tables for a new business unit. You identify the code you want to use as the business unit. This is the three-character code that uniquely identifies the operating unit. You must use all three characters, and the first character must not be numeric. The SQL file group defaults to Primary and cannot be altered. The Business Unit Create function is only available to Super Users. Click here to see the screenshot |
