System Implementation
|
|
It's a common practice for a system administrator to implement and test new system functionality, perform system upgrades, apply service packs or change any other system wide parameters. Very often the impact of such changes to a production environment can't be evaluated from the very beginning, and can result in severe problems or even a complete collapse of the system. To avoid such dangerous situations a SunSystems test environment has to be created and maintained on a separate machine. It's the test environment that is used for all testings before they are applied in the production. |

Suppliers Setup (SUS) is used to enter and maintain all of the information relating to an organization from which you purchase goods or services. Click here to see the screenshotA supplier is linked to a creditor/payables account in the Financials ledger. This account holds all of the financial postings for the supplier. When you add a new supplier you can create the associated creditor/payables account at the same time by entering all of the chart of accounts details. Alternatively, if you have already created the account, you can reference this chart of accounts code to display the ledger account details. Note: It is important that this link between the supplier and the Financials creditor/payables account is established. A large amount of information can be held for a supplier and these details are often divided into a series of logical tabs on the form (depending on the form design). Some of the details are only required if you are using the appropriate SunSystems facility for example, the Order Entry details are only required if you are using SunSystems Order Fulfilment. |

System Administration

If, during log in, an invalid password is entered on three consecutive attempts, it is recorded as a login violation. Before the operator can log on again, their operator log on will have to be cleared. Other situations that will also result in an operator log on needing to be cleared are: Choosing the Abort option when an error message occurs. Performing an End Task operator on a live session of SunSystems Turning off the PC (or power outages) without logging out of SunSystems.
|
A message displays stating that a violation occurred and that the administrator should be informed. Any subsequent attempt to log in using that Operator Id is unsuccessful. The cause of the violation is hidden from the user. To reset an Operator Id: Click here to see the screenshot
- Log in to SunSystems as the SunSystems SuperUser SUN.
Select Clear Operator (ZC). Enter the Operator Id and then click OK. A message appears confirming that Operator Id has been cleared. |

Customers Setup (CUS) is used to enter and maintain all of the information relating to an organization to which you supply goods or services.
A customer is linked to a debtor/receivables or client account in the Financials ledger. This account holds all of the financial postings for the customer. When you add a new customer you can create the associated debtor/receivables account at the same time by entering all of the chart of accounts details. Alternatively, if you have already created the account, you can reference this account code to display the ledger account details. A customer record can reference many different static data details, many of which must have been pre-defined. For example, address codes, bank details and contacts. These details are referenced in different ways, depending on whether one or more items can be referenced. Before you add a new customer you should ensure that the following details have been defined, if they are required: addresses, payment terms, bank details, currency code, salesperson, and sales definition code. |
